In the beginning of 1999, Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear started as a small online store headed by Gilberto Faria, who was dedicated to providing the highest quality kimonos/gis to jiu jitsu practitioners around the world. As the company grew, Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear opened up its doors in a South Bay suburb of Los Angeles and became the first Fight Store of its kind in the United States.

As a start up company selling only kimonos/gis, Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear has grown along with the sport itself and currently offers its customers the finest selection of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, submission grappling, judo, boxing, and MMA gear on the planet. In 2007, Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear expanded itself and has become a brand name known for its quality, style, and authenticity. Over its 10 years of operation, Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear has sponsored some of the top tournaments and athletes in jiu jitsu and MMA including Ronaldo “Jacare” de Souza, Bill “The Grill” Cooper, Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, Ron “Sugar” Shinkai, Pablo Papovich, Jeff Glover, Cassio Werneck and many more.

More than just an online store or clothing line, Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear is a lifestyle project that remains personal and direct, reflective of the jiu jitsu community and culture, and dedicated to its fanbase.
